Silent Video #3

My final silent video follows a very succinct rhythm , almost like a musical piece. Its basic formula consists of four frames of still images spliced in between video of slow pan shots of mainly cracks.

Silent Video #2

This video plays with still images and video clips of the same objects. It implements the zooming effect with still images inter-spliced between video images and plays with the directional motion of vehicles as they move in and out of the frame.

I edited my first silent video to make it seem as though it picks up speed throughout its short duration. Again, I edited as many match cuts as I could and created a more unusual rhythm than seen in the previous clip.

Rough Clip #5 Collage

This is the still images video of my second trek. In the editing process I played with images that were taken of the same objects but from different angles changing the lighting and the feel of the image. I tried to edit together as many graphic matches as I could and create a fluency between straight and round images.

Rough Clip #4 Dry Leaf

I used similar editing techniques in this clip as I did in the steel waste basket video. Again, I manipulated the speed and direction of the clip to effect its natural movement. The leaf was an attractive object to capture because the wind shook the leaf on the ground in such a unique way without actually blowing it away.

Rough Clip #3 Steel Waste Basket

This steel waste basket offered a piece of what appears to be string or ribbon that playfully blew in the wind on the opposite side of the basket. I manipulated the speed and direction of the clip effecting the fluency of the ribbon's dance in the wind and the overall delicacy of its natural movement.

Rough Clip #2 Cracked Street Curb

The "rule of thirds" is a prevalent aspect of this video. The cracked and weathered man-made curb stands out in stark contrast to the leaves and grass above and below the curb.

Rough Clip #1 Construction Pipe

This concrete construction tube offered a unique way of viewing the passing traffic through a circular window. The composition of the shot limits all of its action to the small opening on the other side of the tube and creates a playfulness between the rectangular car windows and the circular opening of the tube.

Strategy #2

My second capture strategy is to only photograph objects that can be seen through.

Strategy #1

My first strategy will be to only photograph cracks.
